About
If you have ever said to yourself (or outloud to anyone else), “I’d love to homeschool, but….” then this site is for YOU!
There is no time to waste. While the schools spend billions of dollars to “improve,” YOUR children are stuck in a system that CANNOT help them rise to their potential. It is the epitome of the interests of the collective trumping the individual.
And yet this system is supposed to prepare Americans?
I believe in the transformative power of home education. Imagine if more families bonded together and grew together, immersed in life and learning, rather than being separated from each other for most of their lives…
We have provided a home based education for our two sons, now ages 15 and 11, for eight years. YOU CAN DO IT, TOO!
It is my explicit intention with this web site to encourage as many families as possible to remove their children from a mediocre-to-poor system, and take back control of their family’s future. Even a “good” school district is only labeled “good” when compared to other schools. This lesser-of-all-evils mentality is most decidedly NOT a recipe for success, nor is it American.
SIGN UP FOR YOUR FREE COPY OF “A DECLARATION OF HOME EDUCATION” to learn how you CAN homeschool, even if you believe one of the TOP TEN MYTHS people tell themselves about why they can’t homeschool.
I used to believe that “homeschooling” was the worst thing a person could do to their children. I am a licensed psychologist, and my training implicitly taught me that the “socialization” in schools was not only valuable, but also desirable and necessary.
After three years in the public school system, I developed a strong intuition that something was NOT right. My son was doing well, learning how to read and perform basic arithmetic – no obvious problems.
But I just knew in my gut that something is very wrong with a system that assumes the role of “parent” for 7 hours a day, but with no real authority.
As a psychologist, I wondered why the school boards kept changing curriculum every few years. PEOPLE have never changed, why did the manner in which they learn have to change?
Not only do schools change their curriculum frequently, many do so in the absence of any real evidence that the new curriculum works. And even if it does have some success, it cannot be adequate for all the children in one single classroom, let alone an entire school or even district.
As an adult, you probably have a different style and preference for learning than your friends and family members. Imagine all the adults in your neighborhood gathered together in one room and forced to learn something in only one way. You will not be permitted to challenge the instructor with differing opinions, and in fact your ability to pass the class will directly related to how well you can regurgitate the information provided to you.
If you have an alternate opinion, you couldn’t pass the class, because you wouldn’t have demonstrated that you grasp the information provided.
This is the environment that American children experience every day. And with the increased emphasis on promoting social values and agendas, your children are expected to absorb this information and repeat it. Otherwise their grade will suffer….and as a parent, you won’t be happy if your child comes home with low grades.
The pressure to accept whatever is presented to our children is very strong. Even if you attempt to counter it with family discussions at home, your children are surrounded by the school’s agenda for many hours a day, in addition to all of the children whose parents either accept that agenda, or who don’t care if their children absorb it as their own.
As a homeschooling parent, almost every day I hear the phrase, “I’d love to homeschool, but…(fill in reason).”
It is my firm belief that if you have even the inclination to homeschool, then you need to be doing it!
This site is designed to give you the support, encouragement, and information you need in order to take on this task.
Home-based education is not effortless. It requires planning, thought, and flexibility.
If you don’t want to homeschool, then there is no need to explore this site further.
But if you are intrigued, then my guess is that you just need the confidence to make the leap – I hope this site and its offerings provide you with just that confidence you need.
